Kevin Burton wins PETROFER Trophy at Leek Photo Club Awards
On the evening of 23rd June 2022, the PETROFER Trophy was once again awarded at the Leek Photo Club Awards Dinner, held at The Winking Man pub near Leek.
Once a year the Leek Photographic Club holds a celebratory dinner and awards ceremony for winners in club competitions throughout the year. Also at this event there is a final competition of the year where a well-known photographer comes as a guest to choose, in their opinion, the best image of the year.
This event honours the clubs best artists. As part of the close of the photographic year at the club, PETROFER are invited to review the top images from the season and present awards for the top 3 pictures chosen by the company.
Many talented club photographers from the Leek area had submitted their images and competed.
Over 30 judges from 3 countries representing PETROFER looked at the photos and chose their favourites.
In the end, Kevin Burton won first place with his photograph “Starling Bathing”.
Stuart Gregory, Managing Director of PETROFER UK, as representative of the company presented him with the PETROFER trophy.
Kevin Burton has photographed for PETROFER many times in the past and several of his pictures can be found on the PETROFER website and other printed materials.
That’s why we are very pleased to be able to present him with the trophy.
The voting from the PETROFER judges was very close with 17 pictures being voted a persons first choice, so showing how diverse and different our judgement of a pictures appeal can be.
- In first place was: Starling Bathing – Kevin Burton
- In second place was: Relic – David Travis
- In third place we had a tie so joint equal on points were: Calling Time – David Travis Lion Brother Dispute – John Coe Kingfisher Preening – Paul Mathews
Well done to all who submitted images, the standard from the club is exceptional and shows the high level of amateur talent in the Leek UK area.
It was a pleasure to be invited to attend the event and present the PETROFER awards, and we look forward to some more exciting images to look at next year.
